  • The World of 7 Billion video contest, now the

World of 8 Billion contest, was an annual competition by Population Education challenging middle and high school students to create short videos on population growth's impact on global challenges like climate change, sustainable resources, and human rights. Students explored solutions to these challenges through their videos, with prizes for winners. While the original "World of 7 Billion" contest celebrated the population milestone in 2010-2011, it evolved into the World of 8 Billion contest to reflect continued population growth and a broader range of global challenges.

  • An educational initiative to connect students with global issues linked to human population growth.
  • A platform for middle and high school students to develop critical thinking, research, and creative skills by proposing solutions to global challenges.
  • A project that started as a one-time "teachable moment" but became an annual event due to high interest from educators and students.
